IMPLANT DENTURES
For Brockville residents looking for implant dentures, trust Brockville Denture Clinic with our know-how to assist you with this service. First, an implant-supported denture is a type of overdenture that is supported by and attached to implants. On the other hand, a regular denture rests on the gums and is not supported by implants.
When a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants, an implant-supported denture is used with special attachments that snap onto attachments on the implants.
Since regular dentures tend to be less stable in the lower jaw, implant-supported dentures are usually made there. Typically, a regular denture made to fit an upper jaw is quite stable on its own and doesn’t need the extra support offered by implants. However, you can receive an implant-supported denture in either the lower or upper jaw.
To keep your denture and gum area clean, you should remove your implant-supported denture daily. Similar as your regular dentures, you should not sleep with the implant-supported dentures at night. Some people prefer to have fixed (permanent) crown and bridgework in their mouths that can’t be removed, which is another option for you.
It can seem overwhelming to figure out what’s best for you, but don’t worry! Your dentist will consider your particular preferences and needs when suggesting fixed or removable options.
